CHANDLER, AZ - A Chandler woman has pleaded guilty to child abuse in connection with an attempted shoplifting incident.
Maricopa County prosecutors say Nicci Paige Rounsaville also pleaded guilty Friday to a misdemeanor charge of possession or use of marijuana.
The 23-year-old Rounsaville is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 4.
Chandler police say Rounsaville was arrested May 7 after trying to steal items from a store and fleeing with her young son.
Employees say the child bumped his head on a doorway as Rounsaville ran out of the store.
The Arizona Republic says video surveillance shows Rounsaville running to a car parked in the handicapped section, putting the toddler in the front passenger seat without restraint and backing into another vehicle.
Police searched her vehicle and say they found a stash of marijuana.
