CHANDLER, AZ - The Maricopa County Sheriff's Department said a 27-year-old woman is behind bars after being caught during a human smuggling operation.
Sgt. Brandon Jones said late Wednesday night, deputies tried to stop a silver Ford Focus for speeding . When the car stopped, three suspects fled into the desert near I-10 and Riggs Road.
Detectives found Yolanda Jimenez-Carbajal and are still looking for the other two people.
Jones said Jimenez-Carbajal told deputies she paid $2,500 to be smuggled illegally into the United States.
Jimenez-Carbajal was booked into the 4th Avenue Jail on human smuggling charges.
