PHOENIX - A child struck by a vehicle in south Phoenix has died, according to officials.
Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Larry Nunez said a vehicle struck Isiah Jackson near 27th Street and Southern Avenue around 2:45 p.m.
The child was taken to the hospital in critical condition, Nunez said.
The child later died, according to Phoenix police Officer James Holmes.
Holmes said a 14-year-old boy was playing with his 2-year-old nephew and a group of children and wanted to make more room for them to play.
The 14-year-old was moving a van when he struck the 2-year-old.
Holmes called it a "serious, tragic accident."
