PHOENIX - A convenience store clerk ended up in a fight for his life after refusing to sell beer to a couple who came into the store as he was trying to deal with a recent delivery.
It happened at the Circle K at Central Avenue and Dobbins Road overnight.
Police Sgt. Marcus Virgil said a couple came in to get beer and when the clerk said he couldn't sell it to them because the store was closed, the man got angry and pulled out a gun.
The clerk ended up in a struggle with the man and got the gun away but not before it went off, shattering a window.
The clerk was uninjured.
Virgil said the man has frequented the store in the past so they do have a lead on his identity.
The couple ended up leaving without taking anything.
