PHOENIX - The Arizona Department of Public Safety said a woman who was driving the wrong way on Loop 101 has been charged with second-degree murder after fatally striking a motorcyclist Sunday afternoon.

Authorities said 59-year-old Carol Ann Sacca was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of traffic when her car struck a black Harley Davidson motorcycle head on and caused another motorcycle to crash.

Scott Benson, of Tempe, was riding the black Harley Davidson when he was struck. The 43-year-old was taken to the hospital where he later died. Sacca and the other motorcyclist were treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Sacca was arrested and booked into jail on charges of second-degree murder, three counts of endangerment and one count of criminal damage.

Police said further charges may be pending upon blood sample results.
