PHOENIX, AZ - A 23-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car while walking on a Phoenix sidewalk.
Sgt. Steve Martos with the Phoenix Police Department said Jackie Ruiz was walking westbound on Thunderbird Road near 19th Avenue when she was hit by a car driven by a 19-year-old male with three other teenagers in the car with him.
Police said the victim was walking on the sidewalk when she was struck. Police don’t know why the driver of the car went off the roadway and onto the sidewalk.
The Phoenix Fire Department said the woman was pronounced dead after she arrived at the hospital.
Police are still investigating if any driving impairments contributed to this crash.
