PHOENIX - Police continue searching for the woman who abandoned a baby in north Phoenix earlier this week.
"Baby Kathleen" was left wrapped in a blanket Tuesday afternoon near the front door of a house near 7th Avenue and Greenway Parkway.
According to police, the baby appeared to have been born within hours of being found.
Police released surveillance photos of a "person of interest" in the case but confirmed Thursday morning that the woman is not related to the investigation.
The little girl still had her umbilical cord attached and had afterbirth on her body, according to Phoenix Police spokesman Tommy Thompson.
The baby was transported to a local hospital by the Phoenix Fire Department.
She was awake and conscious at the time she was transported and is believed to be doing well, a fire official said.
The detectives investigating the case have named the little girl "Baby Kathleen", since that is the street she was found on.
Police are still trying to locate the mother.
If anyone knows who this woman is or who Baby Kathleen's mother may be, they are encouraged to call the Phoenix Police Department Violent Crimes Bureau at 602-262-6141 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS, 480-TESTIGO for Spanish.
Detectives are concerned for the health of the mother as well.
Phoenix fire officials say the incident serves as a reminder for the public about the use of Safe Havens. You can drop babies off at any fire station, police station, or hospital within 72 hours, no questions asked.
