PHOENIX - Police arrested a man earlier this week for child molestation involving two young acquaintances in north Phoenix.
John Bain, 46, was arrested Tuesday for sexually touching two 10-year-old girls known to the family, said Phoenix police Officer James Holmes.
In November 2011, one of the victims reported to police that Bain walked into her bedroom and offered her a phone.
Bain then reportedly climbed onto the upper bunk bed where the victim was laying down and attempted to remove her clothing.
Holmes said the victim was able to fight Bain off, but he threatened the victim against telling anyone about the incident.
During the incident, the victim was scratched on the arm and leg.
In a different incident, Bain allegedly offered the same victim $15 to remove her clothing and $30 to kiss him, Holmes said.
Bain also reportedly made the victim watch pornographic material, Holmes said.
The victim told police she didn’t immediately come forward with the incidents because she was afraid of Bain’s threats.
An order of protection was later obtained by the victim’s family member.
In an ongoing investigation, police later interviewed another 10-year-old female acquaintance of the suspect.
Detectives then learned that this second victim used to visit Bain on weekends and was also sexually touched by him.
This second victim told police that when she was 8 years old, Bain was watching television with her and removed his underwear, Holmes said.
Bain then allegedly put his hands under the victim’s clothing.
When the second victim was 9 years old, Bain repeated the same actions, Holmes said.
The second victim also told detectives that Bain viewed pornographic material in front of her.
Holmes said detectives executed a search warrant at Bain’s home near 17th Avenue and Union Hills Drive, finding pornographic material consistent with what the two victims described.
Bain has been booked into jail on three counts of sexual assault, three counts of molestation of a child, two counts of child prostitution, and four counts of furnishing obscene material to a minor.
Holmes said more evidence is left to be processed and the investigation is ongoing.
