PD: David Walker kills ex-wife's new boyfriend with baseball bat in north Phoenix

PHOENIX - Phoenix police say a man is behind bars Friday for beating and killing his ex-wife’s new boyfriend with a baseball bat.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. Thursday at a home near Bell Road and 39th Avenue.

The suspect, 29-year-old David Walker, had just flown into Phoenix from Chicago before going to his ex-wife’s home, said Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos.

Walker then broke into his 28-year-old ex-wife’s home through a back door and found a baseball bat in the garage, Martos said.

He then went to the bedroom where his ex-wife and her new boyfriend, 29-year-old Adam Moring, were sleeping.

Walker struck Moring’s head multiple times with the baseball bat, causing serious injuries, Martos said.

He then reportedly assaulted his ex-wife and forced her to wake up their two children sleeping in the home.

Walker forced his ex-wife to drive him and the children to Tempe, where he later ran away and threw the baseball bat out, Martos said.

The ex-wife then went to a nearby business and called 911.

Police officers found Moring in the home and had him transported to a nearby hospital.

He died several hours later, Martos said.

Detectives were able to track Walker to a Tempe motel where they arrested him late Thursday night.

Walker is facing the following charges: first degree murder, aggravated assault, kidnapping, burglary, and tampering with evidence.
