PHOENIX - Authorities say a motorcyclist was killed in a crash in the north Valley Tuesday.
Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos said the accident occurred at 28th Street and Union Hills Drive around 4:45 p.m. when a passenger car made a left turn in front of the motorcycle. The driver of the passenger car reportedly told police she did not see the motorcycle.
Martos said the gas tank on the motorcycle ruptured causing a fire that burned both the motorcycle and vehicle.
The 26-year-old motorcyclist was taken to John C. Lincoln Hospital in serious condition and died shortly after, Martos said. The driver of the car suffered minor injuries.
Martos said the driver of the passenger car was not believed to be impaired and as of lateTuesday night, it was not clear who was at fault for the accident.
