PHOENIX - A Paradise Valley High School teacher who authorities say had sex with a female student has pleaded not guilty to sexual conduct with a minor.

Authorities said 26-year-old Jordan Doneskey entered his plea Monday in Maricopa Superior Court.

Doneskey, who was arrested last month , teaches English and works with the yearbook and school newspaper at Paradise Valley High. He has been at the school since 2009.

The mother of the 17-year-old student also was arrested on suspicion of child abuse and failure to report. She also pleaded not guilty during a separate court appearance on Monday.

Police believe the woman was aware of the relationship and had allowed the alleged sexual conduct to take place at her house.

They say the teen was a willing participant in the relationship with Doneskey that allegedly began in early April.
