PHOENIX - Authorities say a motorcyclist was killed in a crash Wednesday afternoon along the southbound lanes of Interstate 17.

According to DPS, the motorcyclist was transitioning from the HOV lane to the first lane of traffic when he lost control of his bike.

This caused a collision behind him.

One of the vehicles from the accident ran over the motorcyclist trapping him underneath the car.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, but was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Department of Public Safety said multiple vehicles were involved in the accident.

There is no word if anyone else was hurt.
