PHOENIX - Authorities have identified a man killed Friday in an accident in the north Valley .

The accident happened around 9:15 a.m. on 19th Avenue south of Pinnacle Peak Road.

Phoenix police say 42-year-old Brian Scott Rivera was traveling southbound on 19th Avenue, possibly trying to make a left turn onto Parkside Lane, when he failed to yield to a flatbed truck heading in the opposite direction.

The collision caused the truck to leave the road and crash into an unoccupied office building.

The 24-year-old truck driver suffered non life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Rivera, who was driving a passenger car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the driver of the truck was evaluated and showed no signs of impairment.

No charges are pending at this time.
