PHOENIX - One person was seriously injured in a reported dog attack near Anthem on Thursday.

Scott Walker with the Phoenix Fire Department said crews responded to the area of Daisy Mountain and Meridian Way around 11:50 a.m.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, an APS employee was there to turn on power to the home.

A boxer and an American bulldog, originally thought to be a pit bull, were in the backyard.

The dogs saw him and broke through a fence when the attack reportedly occurred.

Jeff Sprong with MCSO said the American bulldog had to be put down and the boxer was contained.

The employee received a laceration to the head and was bit in the arm two or three times, according to Sprong.

APS spokesman Dan Wool said the worker is in stable condition and is currently being treated at the hospital for multiple lacerations. He is expected to be released sometime later tonight.

Sprong said MCSO is investigating the incident.

The person’s identity has not been released.
