PHOENIX - Authorities say a motorcyclist was killed after going over the wall of a freeway in the north Valley just after midnight on Tuesday.
The Department of Public Safety says 41-year-old Ricardo A. Phillips of Buckeye was heading north on Interstate 17 and transitioning to the Loop 101 westbound when he hit the wall and went over, falling several hundred feet to the Loop 101 below.
The rider was wearing a helmet which came off during impact.
DPS said no other people or vehicles were involved in the accident.
Authorities say they don't know why Phillips went off the roadway.
