PHOENIX - Interstate 17 has reopened after a body was found on the freeway early Tuesday morning.
According to the Department of Public Safety, a vehicle was found running with the lights on on the Loop 101 ramp above Interstate 17.
DPS said several people called 911 around 4 a.m. to say they saw a large object in the road on I-17.
When officers arrived they found the victim, who was described as a male in his 50s. Authorities said the car registration and identification found in the car matches the victim.
Authorities said it was not immediately clear if the man fell or it was a case of suicide.
DPS has not released the man's name, saying the Medical Examiner's Office will determine identification.
