PHOENIX - Strong wind and rain caused a lot of damage Friday night near 24th Street and McDowell Road.
Christina Mathius was home with her son when the storm rolled in.
“You couldn’t see anything other than rain and white and then you started hearing a loud bang,” said Mathius.
The loud bang was the sound of power lines breaking and falling in her street and onto her neighbors' homes.
When she walked outside, power lines were strewn across her road and in the alley behind her brother’s home.
“We heard the noise when it fell on the fence. One even went through our neighbor’s window. He can’t get back inside his house,” said Mathius.
Fire crews spent Friday night working to restore power to homes in the neighborhood.
