PHOENIX - Two people are in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after an accident in North Phoenix overnight.

Phoenix police say officers responded to the single vehicle rollover accident near 39th Avenue and Deer Valley Road just after midnight.

Police say the vehicle failed to negotiate a southbound turn, left the roadway and rolled multiple times.

The driver and passenger were both ejected from the vehicle and have sustained life-threatening injuries.

Investigators remain on the scene and the road is expected to be closed through the morning commute.

Police say 39th Avenue from Deer Valley Road south to Melinda was closed through the morning commute.
