PHOENIX - More than 100 people held candles at a vigil to honor a mother and daughter who were murdered inside their home Monday.
Christina Wilson, 42, and her 14-year-old daughter, Vanessa, were remembered as "two peas in a pod."
Although Phoenix police did not officially link their murders to Christina's boyfriend, Michael Blanco, 41, he was the detectives' only lead.
Blanco was discovered shot to death in an apparent suicide inside a motel near Interstate 17 and McDowell Road early Tuesday afternoon, police said.
"You have a sigh of relief," said Nicole Adame from outside the victim's home near 25th Street and McDowell, "but it's a long road."
Adame told ABC15 she worked with Christina at a nearby store and was also her relative. "I looked for her this morning, but I knew she wasn't coming around the corner."
The family said funeral arrangements are still pending.
