PHOENIX - Authorities say two vehicles rolled over several times after a crash that left two people dead Tuesday evening .
The Department of Public Safety says that just before 6 p.m., a Dodge pickup truck was southbound on Loop 101 in the HOV lane when the driver lost control and veered across all lanes of traffic.
The pickup struck an SUV trying to enter the freeway at Northern Avenue.
DPS says both vehicles rolled several times off the road, past the shoulder and landed in the desert.
Neither person in the pickup truck was wearing a seatbelt and both were ejected from the vehicle.
The driver, 53-year-old John Horn of Chandler, was pronounced dead at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix.
The passenger, 15-year-old John Horn Jr, was taken to another hospital with a broken leg.
DPS says the SUV rolled about five time before going through a fence.
The driver of the SUV, 32-year-old Juana Camacho Pina of Buckeye, died at the scene.
The passenger in the SUV, 42-year-old Guadalupe Pina De Birruete of Buckeye was taken to John C. Lincoln Hospital with a broken shoulder.
