PHOENIX - Two workers were severely injured after a dust explosion at a Phoenix design business Monday afternoon.

A Phoenix Fire Department spokesman said they received a call around 1 p.m. about a fire at Rock Hard Designs and Surfaces located at 2545 West Holly Street.

Crews responding to the scene found the fire out and three victims.

Officials said the workers were in the process of cleaning up a large amount of wood dust in the lofts when an explosion went off in the loft. Somehow the dust became an ignition source and all that sawdust in the air exploded.

Two victims were transported to the hospital with second-and third-degree burns. A third worker was also injured, but he refused medical treatment.

The names and conditions of the two burned workers aren't immediately available. An investigation is being conducted to determine the cause of the fire and explosion.
