PHOENIX - The Phoenix Zoo is once again celebrating the holidays by kicking off their ZooLights light display on Thanksgiving evening.
ZooLights, celebrating their 21st year, will flip on the switch to 3.6 million holiday lights at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving evening.
ZooLights will be on every evening following the Thanksgiving opening from 6 to 10 p.m, and the entire family can enjoy them until January 6, 2013.
As always, the zoo will be filled with bright, colorful lights in the shapes of flamingos, elephants, giraffes and other exotic animals.
Many light displays are unique to Phoenix Zoo, which hosts one of the largest events in the Southwest, and will be scattered throughout the zoo.
According to The Phoenix Zoo, ZooLights is also becoming more environmentally-friendly, switching to LED lights as each year passes. ZooLights is presented by EarthWise Energy, a company that strives to create power from sun, wind, heat and water.
Tickets to ZooLights are between $9 and $14. Children two and younger are admitted free.
To purchase tickets, buy them at the gate or online .
