PHOENIX - A fast-moving thunderstorm caused some flight delays at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport due to wind shear conditions.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says several planes were diverted from Sky Harbor on Friday evening and others had to do go-arounds before landing.
Airport spokeswoman Julie Rodriguez said the airport never experienced a full ground stop.
The storm struck parts of Maricopa and Pinal counties before sundown and caused power outages to about 1,100 Salt River Project customers.
SRP officials say the outages are parts of Phoenix and Mesa and crews hoped to restore power within a few hours.
