PHOENIX - A man who attempted to rob a Phoenix smoke shop Tuesday night was shot by an employee at the store.

Police say the a man tried to rob the 'Smoke 4 Less' smoke shop at the intersection of Cave Creek Road and Union Hills Drive.

The suspect had a gun but so did the worker behind the counter.

Phoenix police spokesman James Holmes said the suspect fled the scene, but ended up at the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The store employee was not injured.
