PHOENIX - More than 41,000 pounds of bottled water, baby formula and non-perishable food is on its way to New Orleans Friday to aid those in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Isaac.

St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance, one of the largest food banks in the country, was asked to help out a sister organization in Louisiana by supplying emergency food for thousands of people without necessities to survive.

St. Mary's Food Bank says that almost 30 pallets of food and other goods will be shipped out to New Orleans from their Del E. Webb Distribution Center.

Thousands of people in the area are living in emergency shelters after Isaac bombarded the southern coast with over a foot of rain, knocking out power and leaving residents without food and livable homes.

After shipping food to aid in Tropical Storm Isaac relief efforts and supplies already being over 30 percent below last year's stock, the food bank is asking Arizonans to donate and help them replenish their goods.

Non-perishable food items, baby items and bottled water are among the supplies St. Mary's is hoping to receive.

The food bank has donation centers located at 2831 N. 31st Ave. in Phoenix, 13050 W. Elm St. in Surprise and 1801 W. Route 66 in Flagstaff.

Goodwill stores also act as donation locations for the food bank.
