PHOENIX - Halloween hasn't even hit the Valley yet, but the Salvation Army is already preparing for the holidays.
The Salvation Army is registering families for their annual Christmas Angel Program, which helps connect toys and clothes with kids whose families are struggling.
"It's very important, everybody likes gifts," said Diego Goncalez, who has four kids.
Hundreds of families are flocking to Salvation Army locations with wish lists this week. The City of Phoenix is registering families for the program this week. Other Valley cities have different registration dates.
"It's helping us to be able to have a Christmas for the kids," said mother Katrina Mata. "Right know the [finances] are real tight."
The program has several requirements . Once a family is registered, kids can receive toys and clothing as gifts in December.
"Our phones are ringing off the hook with people who are desperate and looking for help this year, more so than last year I think," said Major Harry Lacey with the Salvation Army.
