PHOENIX - Drivers who use the so-called "suicide lanes" in Phoenix will notice some changes starting Monday.

The city put up new signs over the weekend to help drivers understand how the reversible lanes along 7th Street and 7th Avenue work.

From 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday, the lanes allow traffic to flow south.

Then from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., it switches to accommodate cars going north.

In addition to the new signs, drivers will also notice they can now turn left from 7th Avenue onto Camelback Road going northbound from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

However, the other intersections along 7th Street and 7th Avenue will continue to prohibit lefthand turns during reversible lane hours.

The change allowing cars to turn left onto Camelback Road goes into effect Monday afternoon.

To be clear, drivers will only be allowed to turn left off of 7th Avenue not 7th Street.

Changes to 7th Street aren't expected until sometime in 2012.

Phoenix police plan to have extra officers in the area patrolling.
