PHOENIX - Federal judges are sticking by a March 25 start date for a trial on a Republican-backed challenge to Arizona's map of legislative districts.

Lawyers for the state redistricting commission and those challenging the map have been arguing over pretrial disclosures and whether the trial can start on schedule.

But several orders by a panel of three judges keep the March 25 trial date and respond to other disputes.

One order says the commission cannot withhold certain documents based on claims of the legal privilege held by legislative bodies.

Another rejects one commission's request that the commission's lawyers be ordered to give him various records that he says he needs for a pretrial deposition.

The Republicans' lawsuit contends that the commission drew districts with unequal populations to benefit Democrats.
