PHOENIX - Rapper DMX could face a prison term after his latest arrest in Phoenix for allegedly violating his probation by using drugs.

DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, allegedly violated probation imposed for trying to assault a jail guard with a food tray and using a fake name to avoid a $7,500 hospital bill.

The 39-year-old rapper was arrested by Maricopa County probation officers Thursday evening and is being held without bond in the county jail.

Court documents released Friday allege that he used cocaine and OxyContin and failed to submit to drug testing.

DMX has had numerous run-ins with the law in recent years.

Probation officials want his probation revoked. DMX's attorney Glenn Allen says his client has been working hard and will overcome the setback.
