PHOENIX - An attempted robbery at a Jack In The Box turned into a shooting Friday night.

Witnesses at the restaurant at 22nd Street and Indian School Road said a masked man came in the front door and demanded money.

He then fired a single shot at the cash register that ricocheted off a back counter just a few feet from where an employee was standing.

The man fled.

There were two customers in the restaurant along with about five employees. There was also a car in the drive-thru at the time.

Police said one woman in the restaurant hurt her head, but not as a result of the shot fired.
