PHOENIX - A Phoenix police officer was injured when her patrol car was hit by a suspected drunk driver early Friday.

Phoenix police said the 4-year veteran had a prisoner in the vehicle when it was t-boned at 44th Street and Thomas Road around 1:45 a.m.

The officer was injured and taken to a local hospital.

The prisoner was not injured.

The male driver of the other vehicle was arrested at the scene. He was identified as 22-year-old Charles Joseph Hall.

Police said Hall was headed northbound on 44th Street when he ran the red light and struck the officer's vehicle traveling westbound on Thomas Road.

Hall faces charges of DUI and endangerment.
