PHOENIX - Crime scene investigators spent more than an hour at an Arcadia indoor trampoline park Tuesday following an accident that claimed the life of a 30-year-old man.
Last Thursday at the Skypark indoor trampoline park, investigators say Ty Thomasson jumped off a trampoline into a pit filled with foam blocks.
A spokesperson for the Phoenix Fire Department tells ABC15 the 30-year-old landed awkwardly and broke his neck.
Thomasson died from his injuries three days later at Maricopa Medical Center.
The Maricopa County Medical Examiner ruled Tuesday Thomasson died from blunt force injuries to his spine.
"I feel it is a safe environment," said Heather Bowie, District Manager for Jumpstreet indoor trampoline parks. "I allow my brother and sister here. As long as people are following our rules everything should be fine."
A spokesperson said Phoenix Police are conducting an accidental death investigation.
In a statement released to ABC15, Skypark's owners say they've closed the foam pit.
The statement goes on to say that patrons sign a waiver that discloses the risks of jumping on a trampoline.
