PHOENIX - Authorities have arrested a Phoenix woman for the shooting death of her husband.

Phoenix police say Rebekah Marlene Mellon, 31, will be booked into jail for suspicion of first-degree murder.

Police say that officers were called to a home near Central Avenue and Encanto Boulevard just after 10 p.m. on Tuesday in response to an unknown trouble.

Officers found the victim, 46-year-old Donald L. Mellon Jr. inside the home with obvious trauma to the body.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Authorities say officers tried to speak with Rebekah Mellon to find out what happened in the home, but she became uncooperative and was detained until detectives arrived.

After working all night to determine what happened to Donald Mellon, homicide detectives were able to establish cause to arrest Rebekah Mellon for the shooting death of her husband.

Police say a motive for the shooting has not been determined and the investigation is continuing.
