PHOENIX - Phoenix firefighters were able to extinguish a fire at a local tire shop Thursday morning near Interstate 17 and Glendale Avenue.
Air15 was above the scene where fire crews could be seen rolling tires out of the shop as smoke was still pouring from the building.
The fire started in the storage area of the tire shop where tires were stacked into piles, according to Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Jonathan Jacobs. Crews had to cut holes into the metal structure to gain control of the fire.
The storage unit suffered moderate damage and could hold a couple thousand tires, Jacobs said. The fire did not spread to where the building's offices were located.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
