PHOENIX - Police say a deadly fire last week at a central Phoenix apartment is now being investigated as a homicide.
The victim in the incident has been identified as 56-year-old Bruce Gaudet.
Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Frank Salomon said four units were involved in the first alarm fire at 16th Street and Maryland Avenue around 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
Arson investigators worked the scene with Phoenix homicide investigators and eventually classified the investigation as a homicide, said Sgt. Tommy Thompson.
No other details were released.
Air15 video showed smoke pouring from the structure and crews cutting holes in the roof.
