Phoenix PD: Man pulled from Cadillac Escalade parked in driveway, shot and killed

PHOENIX - Police say a man was shot and killed and his vehicle stolen by the suspects in West Phoenix early Friday.

Police said officers responded to a call of shots fired near 36th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard just after midnight.

Sgt. Tommy Thompson said 33-year-old Arnold Monroy was parked in a residential driveway waiting to pick up a friend when three armed suspects ordered him and his passengers out of the vehicle.

One of the suspects spoke with Monroy and then he was shot, Thompson said.

The suspects took Monroy's 2005 white Cadillac Escalade and left the scene.

Thompson said Monroy was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

Neither of the two passengers were hurt. They were described as 20- and 22-year-old males.

In a noon news release, police said the vehicle was found just a few blocks from the shooting scene.

The suspects were described as three Hispanic males between the ages of 19 and 25. One was described as 6 feet tall 230 pounds, wearing a black short-sleeved T-shirt and long shorts. The second suspect was described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, 215 pounds, wearing a red short-sleeved T-shirt and white gym shorts. The third suspect was described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, 250 pounds, wearing a dark short-sleeved shirt.
