PHOENIX - Police are asking for the public's help after a man was found dead behind a grocery store in west Phoenix early Saturday.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers and fire personnel responded to a report of an injured person lying off the road in a gravel landscaped area behind the Ranch Market at 33rd Avenue and Indian School Road.
The victim, identified as 29-year-old Jose Aguirre Villasana, was pronounced dead at the scene.
While police initially thought Villasana had been injured in a hit and run accident, trauma to the body and evidence found around the scene indicated the vehicle-related incident may have been intentional.
Police are now asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident or who may have information call the Phoenix Police Crime Stop line at 602-262-6151 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
