PHOENIX - A Phoenix police officer was forced to fire his weapon after three suspect's robbed a local Circle K Saturday morning. One even lunged for the officer's gun.
Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos said three suspects--2 males, 1 female-- allegedly stole alcohol, cigarettes and doughnuts from the Circle K located near I-17 and Cactus Road in Phoenix early Saturday morning and then fled the scene when officers arrived.
The suspects entered the convenience store wielding a knife.
The suspects eventually drove their minivan down an alley and through a fence where the vehicle came to a stop. The suspects tried to flee and hid from police.
One of the suspects tried to reach for an officer's gun forcing the officer to discharge his weapon, said Martos. The suspect was shot in the face and transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Two of the suspects were considered juveniles. Police released one of their K-9 officers on one of the suspects after they were not cooperating with police and hiding. That suspect was transported for medical treatment.
No other information was released.
