PHOENIX - Police said a Phoenix woman fatally stabbed her husband after an altercation broke out between him and her adult son at their home Thursday night.
According to reports, responding officers went to the couple’s residence near 19th Avenue and Thomas Road around 7:30 p.m. after a female caller told police that she had stabbed her 43-year-old husband.
The couple had been recently married, but the 49-year-old woman had a 28-year-old son from a previous marriage.
The son, who is said to be mentally impaired, was visiting his mother when a verbal fight broke out between him and the woman’s husband.
The verbal altercation then turned physical and the wife reportedly stabbed her husband.
The man was taken to a hospital after officers arrived at the home, but he later died from his injuries.
Phoenix police investigators questioned the woman about possible self defense or defense of her son. She was later released pending the conclusion of the investigation, police say.
No other information about the victim has been released as his family has not yet been found or notified as of Friday.
