PHOENIX - Over a dozen guide puppies-in-training boarded their first flight Friday July 30.

It was part of Fun Day, an event put on by Guide Dogs for the Blind.

The puppies went through ticket counter lines, spent time in the Bone Yard -- Sky Harbor’s dog relief area, then on to security before boarding their flight to Oakland, CA.

Once they got to California, they took part in fun activities to reinforce training.

The 15 puppies that made the trip range from five months to a year old.

The dogs made the trip to get them accustomed to air travel in the event they are placed with someone who needs to fly.

Phoenix Guide Dog Raisers Inc. is a non-profit corporation established to support guide dog puppy raisers affiliated with Guide Dogs for the Blind, Inc.

Some of the dogs' new owners may not be Phoenix residents and have to fly their new guide dog home.
