PHOENIX - A 50-year-old man was struck and killed by a car in Phoenix Thursday night.

Phoenix police spokesman Steve Martos said the man was killed at the intersection of 19th Avenue and Mountain View Road around 7:40 p.m.

Police said the victim was wearing dark clothes and was not in a crosswalk when he was hit.

Police said the woman who hit the man did stop. Authorities do not believe speed or impairment caused the accident.

The man was transported from the scene, but died on the way to the hospital.

Police are not releasing the victim's name at this time.
