PHOENIX - A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle when crossing a Phoenix street early Saturday morning, according to police.
Sgt. Steve Martos with Phoenix police said 32-year-old Gilberto Contreras-Lopez was walking across Indian School Road near 10th Street around 12:30 a.m. when it happened.
Contreras-Lopez was hit by a Volkswagen four-door sedan and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, Martos said.
The driver of the Volkswagen was evaluated, and investigators believe impairment was a factor, Martos said.
