PHOENIX - A pregnant woman and her baby are in stable condition Monday morning after being run over by a suspected drunk driver over the weekend .
Authorities on Monday also identified 25-year-old Guadalupe Castaneda as the suspected driver arrested in connection with the incident.
Castaneda is believed to have left Bukkana's Bar near 17th Avenue and Camelback Road around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, and attempted to steal a vehicle in a nearby parking lot as the driver was buying food from a vendor.
According to the police report, Castaneda sideswiped the man and also struck two women working at the taco stand as he attempted to flee in the stolen Dodge Charger.
After a short police pursuit, Castaneda was taken into custody near 33rd Avenue and Van Buren.
One of the victims, who is four months pregnant, suffered fractures to her legs and arms, as well as broken ribs and bruised lungs. She was rushed to a local hospital and is currently in stable condition, as is her baby, according to police.
The second female victim suffered minor injuries, and the male victim was uninjured.
During an interview with police, according to court documents, Castaneda reportedly admitted to drinking 30 beers during the course of the night before driving.
Police have confirmed to ABC15 that the 25-year-old had been drinking at the same Phoenix bar as the suspect in the hit-and-run death of Officer Daryl Raetz in May.
Phoenix Police Department spokesperson Sargeant Trent Crump confirmed the same bar is part of both investigations but declined to comment on the Raetz connection citing an upcoming trial on the case.
A person who identified himself as an employee at the bar told ABC15 all employees have been instructed by the owner to not discuss the situation and that detectives have the wrong bar as for the Raetz connection.
