PHOENIX - Phoenix police have released the identity of a man who was shot and killed in west Phoenix Sunday night.
Police spokesman Steve Martos said the shooting happened near 67th Avenue and Thomas around 7:30 p.m.
When officers arrived to the scene, they saw a man running from the area.
Officers and K-9 units were able to catch the man and take him into custody. Police are still trying to determine his involvement in the shooting at this time.
Additional police officers searching the area came across an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds.
The man was transported to a local hospital where he later died. He has been identified as 20-year-old George Nunez.
Martos said the suspect in this case has been identified and police are in the process of looking for him. His name is not being released as of Monday afternoon.
