PHOENIX - Police say a teacher in Phoenix was arrested over the weekend for having a sexual relationship with his 14-year-old student.

The suspect is 32-year-old Carl Mosher, a physical education teacher at Saint Gregory’s Catholic School near 19th Avenue and Osborn Road, according to Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos.

Mosher was arrested Saturday morning after the unidentified victim’s parents found out about the relationship, Martos said.

Mosher has been placed on administrative leave, according to The Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix.

Between December 2010 and this month, the contact between Mosher and the victim reportedly happened in Mosher’s office on school campus.

The relationship started in December when the victim was 13 years old.

Mosher has been charged with four counts of sexual conduct with a minor.

Investigators believe there’s nothing to suggest there are other victims at this time, Martos said.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix released a written statement regarding the case, which included the following:

“The Diocese of Phoenix is committed to protecting all children and youth by submitting all of its school employees to background checks and fingerprinting, and by offering classes designed to keep children safe and prevent abuse… It is important to remember that this is an ongoing police matter, and there has been no determination of guilt or innocence. As a matter of practice, we do not comment on the details of ongoing criminal cases, so as to avoid interfering with any police investigations.”
