PHOENIX - A serious accident closed a portion of Interstate 17 Saturday night in Phoenix.
The Arizona Department of Transportation reported on its website that southbound I-17 was closed for the crash between Glendale Avenue and Bethany Home Road after a crash happened just before 8 p.m.
According to the Department of Public Safety, two or possibly three vehicles were involved in the rollover collision.
DPS says the roadway was blocked except for the HOV lane which moved slowly past the scene. However, from the ADOT camera, it appears all traffic was re-routed off the freeway by 8:50 p.m.
DPS says the Glendale on-ramp was closed and traffic was being re-routed down the frontage road.
One person was ejected from a vehicle and was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. There was no word on other injuries.
ADOT says the freeway was expected to be closed until 11 p.m.
DPS said no other information was immediately available.
