Michael Jakscht facing September sentencing in deaths of 4 bikers

PHOENIX - Jurors have found aggravating factors in the case of a dump truck driver convicted in the 2010 deaths of four motorcyclists in north Phoenix.

After a Maricopa County Superior Court jury reached its decision Thursday, sentencing for 47-year-old Michael Jakscht was set for Sept. 21.

He was found guilty Wednesday in his second trial. The first jury was deadlocked in August 2011.

Prosecutors say Jakscht faces up to 21 years in prison for each of four manslaughter charges and 15 years for each of five aggravated assault charges, which all can be stacked at sentencing.

He also was found guilty of four counts of endangerment.

Jakscht was accused of plowing his 12-ton truck into a group of nine motorcyclists stopped at a Carefree Highway traffic light on March 25, 2010.
