PHOENIX - Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies served a search warrant at a Phoenix hotel Wednesday in search of employees working at the business illegally.
MCSO spokesman Christopher Hegstrom said the Sheriff's Office had been investigating the Days Inn near 7th Avenue and Camelback Road for the last two months after receiving a tip from a "concerned citizen".
The investigation reportedly determined 10 of the 18 workers at the hotel were using false information to gain employment.
Victims of the identity theft reportedly include three out of state residents. Deputies are now searching for the nine others, an MCSO spokesperson said.
The suspects' names have not been released.
"This office will continue to enforce all aspects of federal and state immigration laws including crime suppression, human smuggling, and employee sanction/false ID investigation and raids in the work place," Arpaio said Wednesday.
