PHOENIX - Saturday was a very special day for some families in Maricopa County.

It was National Adoption Day across the country on Saturday, and Maricopa County has had the largest adoption day in the nation for the past five years.

In Maricopa County alone, 350 children will officially become part of a family on this special day.

National Adoption Day also helps raise public awareness for all the children who are without families.

According to Kathryn Pidgeon of the Maricopa County National Adoption Day Foundation, “There are more than 13,000 children in the foster care system.”

For more information on Maricopa County adoptions, call 602-506-7032.
