PHOENIX - A suspected drunk driver was taken into custody after trying to run over a police officer.
Phoenix police located an erratic driver on the I-17 overnight after receiving reports from other drivers, according to police. As police were approaching the car, the driver took off, driving straight toward the officer.
Police said the officer was able to jump out of the way and shortly began pursuing the car. The suspect crashed into a brick wall and was taken into custody.
The driver told police that he took off because the car he was driving was stolen.
